The Rocky Hock Playhouse was founded in August of 2000 by Jeff and Gloria Emmerich. Over the past decade it has become one of America's most unique full time professional Christian theatres. The Emmerichs write and produce four to five original musicals each year. In her career, Gloria Emmerich has written over 50 full length musicals including: King David (Sweet Psalmist of Israel), Simon Peter (Fisher of Men), Paul (Fearless Lion of God), Noah's Incredible Cruise, Heaven Came Down, Joy Unspeakable, Born this Day (in the City of David), Out of the Darkness, and Jacob, Prince of God among many others. (These musicals are published and available through Emmerich Publications, Inc., in Minneapolis, MN.) The Emmerichs hire outstanding actors from across the United States to perform in their Broadway style Christian musicals. The Rocky Hock Playhouse, a stock company theatre, is located in Washington, North Carolina. The Playhouse has roots that go back to 1997 when the Emmerichs started a summer theatre in Nags Head, NC and produced Mike Herron’s Under His Wings (the Love Story of Ruth and Boaz). The Playhouse seats 1000 people and has a family theatre atmosphere and premieres musicals based on biblical characters, themes, and stories. The theatre relocated to Washington, NC in 2009. Over 200,000 people have now enjoyed performances at the Rocky Hock Playhouse.

The Emmerich Theatre Production Company, Inc., is an organization existing for the purpose of providing concerts, musicals, and dramatic productions at the Rocky Hock Playhouse in Washington, North Carolina. From time to time the company also produces musicals at other theatres and venues and in a variety of churches of various denominations across the US, its territories, and around the world. The playhouse is a ‘professional stock company’ by definition. High moral standards are expected from all employees, interns, and volunteers. All musicals and plays performed under the control of the Emmerich Theatre Production Company, Inc., are moral and family oriented in nature. Our goal is to honor God through drama and music and to assure that each patron has an uncompromising and wholesome experience while attending professional quality ETPC productions.
